Drama League of Ireland Summer School Bursary

Kilkenny County Council Arts Office is pleased to announce the 2024 bursary for Drama League of Ireland Summer School which will take place on the campus of University of Limerick from July 20th-27th.

The Drama League of Ireland aims to support, nurture and enhance the aspirations and activities in the amateur theatre sector, through education, training, advocacy and advisory services and has being doing so for over 60 years

This bursary is available to those currently based in Kilkenny and will offer individuals a chance to hone existing skills and learn new ones in a supportive and encouraging environment with likeminded individuals. Participants will gain valuable insights and knowledge from leading national and international practitioners, enhancing and strengthening their own practice. Numerous courses are available as part of the Summer School for individuals to choose from, catering to all levels and interests.

Successful recipients will attend one course for the week with the bursary covering course fees, including tuition, single room en-suite accommodation, meals and social programme. The bursary does not include travel expenses and candidates must make their own travel arrangements.

Candidates must be over 18 years old. Courses available will be announced on the Drama League of Ireland website.

Closing date for receipt of completed applications is no later than 4pm on Monday 25th  March 2024, 4pm

Terms and Conditions

  • Both DLI Members and Non-members can apply
  • The bursary entitles the applicant to a week-long residential stay during July 20th -27th at University of Limerick. The awardee must attend the full week of the course.
  • Incomplete or late applications will not be considered
  • Applicants seeking the Drama League of Ireland Bursary must currently be based in Kilkenny and must provide their Eircode.
  • Awardee must credit Kilkenny County Council in all publicity, online, in print, radio or TV
  • The bursary amount is and will be paid out to the successful recipient. The recipient must furnish the Arts Office with a receipt of course booked.
  • Successful applicants are responsible for securing a place on the course of their choice and will need to book through the DLI website https://dli.ie/summer-school/
  • A limited number of bursaries are available and so awards are made in a competitive framework
