Contemporary Visual Art Subsidised Mentoring Progr Contemporary Visual Art Subsidised Mentoring Programme.

Kilkenny Arts Office in partnership with Big Look is offering this online mentoring programme designed to provide subsidised access to a mentoring programme in contemporary painting and drawing practice to artists living and working within the Kilkenny County Council administrative area.

This mentoring programme will provide a framework and set of tools for artists to reflect on their existing painting practice and find new opportunities to develop and refine a cohesive vision for their work.

Between 6-8 participants will join the programme working together online with an in-person session hosted by the Arts Office in Kilkenny in April and June. 

This programme is suitable both for new applicants as well as for applicants who availed of the programme last year, who can demonstrate the potential to build on top of the outocme of their prior participation. 
For those applicants who availed of the programme last year, please note, that the programme will follow a new structure and topics – see below for more.

There will be an information session about the mentoring programme on 12th March at 5.30pm. 

Attendance of this is mandatory if you are intending to apply for this opportunity.

Kilkenny County Council Arts Office is delighted to announce the annual call for submissions for the twenty‑sixth issue of the Kilkenny Poetry Broadsheet.

We invite Kilkenny-based poets, or poets born in Kilkenny, to submit poems for consideration. The aim of the Broadsheet remains to provide a strong platform for local writers and to support the vibrant poetry community within the county.

We are thrilled to have Jane Robinson as this year’s editor. Last year, over seventy writers answered the call for submissions, sending in 133 poems for consideration, with twenty‑five poems selected for publication.

Bookville Festival 2026 is seeking a designer to c Bookville Festival 2026 is seeking a designer to create a vibrant and imaginative 28 page activity book inspired by this year’s theme, Wild and Wondrous Things. 

Bookville is a festival for families and children between the ages of 0 – 12 years managed by
Kilkenny Library Service and Kilkenny Arts Office. It is a multi-disciplinary festival with a
strong emphasis on books, literature, writing and illustration. 2026 is the 9th Bookville
festival.

Design medium: 28-page book - Book size A4

Application process:
• Cover Letter, outlining relevant experience for the role
• A PDF portfolio of previous relevant work or link to your portfolio
• Curriculum vitae
• Designers fee (inclusive of VAT if relevant)
• Please ensure that your application is sent as one PDF max size of 10 MB

The deadline for receipt of applications is 27th February.

Arts Act Grants 2026

The 2003 Arts Act permits a local authority to provide financial assistance for the purposes of stimulating public interest in the arts, promoting the knowledge, appreciation and practices of the arts or improving standards in the arts. In this act, the expression ‘the arts’ means creative or interpretative expression (traditional or contemporary) in whatever form and includes in particular visual arts, theatre, literature, music, film, literature, dance and multi-disciplinary practices and events. 
Kilkenny Artists’ Residency Bursary
Kilkenny County Council’s Arts Office is offering funding for one-week artists residencies, at Greywood Arts, Cork for 2026. The bursary aims to support both established and emerging practitioners by providing them with dedicated time to research and develop their practice and / or work intensively on a specific body of work relevant to the development of their current arts practice.

Tyrone Guthrie First-Time Artist Residency Bursary

Artists across artforms, based in Kilkenny administrative area for a minimum of two years and must be over 18 years old, who can show achievement in their chosen field. This bursary offers first time applicants the opportunity to spend one week at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre. Providing time to work intensively on a ‘project’ in a dedicated arts environment.

Tyrone Guthrie Performing Arts Residency 2026

The Kilkenny Arts Office and The Watergate Theatre are offering this residency to performing artists working in theatre, music and dance. Applicants must be based in Kilkenny for a minimum of 2 years and must be over 18 years old. Applications 
welcome from individual practitioners and two-person collaborations.

Your project or residency must take place within this calendar year – 2026

Kilkenny County Council’s Arts Office in partnership with the Watergate Theatre is offering a one-week fully funded residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Annaghmakerrig, Co. Monaghan, specifically for performing artists.

This bursary is designed to give applicants the opportunity to experience the unique environment of the Guthrie Centre, providing dedicated time and space to focus on your creative work, away from everyday distractions.
