Following the success of our Spring programme, we are thrilled to announce that Rhyme Rag is back for a second series this Autumn. This time, we are expanding the project to include even more schools and students, allowing a greater number of young people to participate in the programme.
The poems created earlier this year are a remarkable testament to the skill and talent of Kilkenny’s youth. Our young poets embraced the challenge wholeheartedly, and under the guidance of this year’s poets, Jessica Traynor and Anna Jordan, they produced beautifully crafted works. These poems explore a myriad of subjects, including loss, friendships, teenage transitions, and the passage of time and place. The selected pieces, chosen by our Spring Editor Colm Keegan, are proudly showcased on the Rhyme Rag website and Instagram account.
The expertise provided by our poets during the three workshops, each lasting two hours, allows the young participants to delve deeper into the art of writing poetry. This enables them to experiment and build their skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.
As we look forward to the completion of the Autumn’s workshops, we are excited to announce that poet and publisher Seamus Cashman will be selecting ten poems by young Kilkenny writers. We eagerly anticipate the new work, which always surprise, are thoughtful, and full of heart.
