Creative Kilkenny 2026

Creative Ireland is a national, all‑of‑government initiative that celebrates and strengthens access to culture and creativity across the country. At its heart is a simple but powerful belief: creativity is an innate human ability. When nurtured and supported, it helps people imagine new possibilities, express themselves, and enrich everyday life.

The Creative Ireland Programme 2023–2027 aims to embed creativity into the fabric of Irish life. By encouraging people of all ages to explore their creative potential, the programme supports wellbeing, community connection, cultural expression, and local innovation. It also places a strong emphasis on collaboration, bringing together partners from across arts, heritage, education, health, enterprise, and technology.

Here in Kilkenny, creativity plays a vital role in shaping vibrant communities. It supports local economic development, contributes to climate action, and strengthens towns and villages in line with the principles of Town Centre First. Through the Kilkenny Culture and Creativity Strategy 2023–2027, we have a shared roadmap for celebrating our rich cultural heritage while supporting new ideas that inspire pride, connection, and sustainable growth.

Each January, our Creative Open Call invites people across the county to become co‑creators of their own cultural projects. And every June, Cruinniú na nÓg, Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children and young people, fills Kilkenny with imagination, energy, and playful discovery.
