Kilkenny County Council Arts Office is delighted to have a stunning wall piece on display throughout December in the Window Gallery in Johns Green House. This collaborative wall piece was produced in the Sycamore ward at the Department of Psychiatry, St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny over a two-year period.
The art workshops took place three times per week throughout the pandemic between March 2020 to March 2022, and anyone interested who could knit, sew, crochet or help in its assembly was welcome to take part. By completion, over forty participants contributed to the making of this beautiful map.
The Pandemic lockdown was particularly isolating for service users in the Department of Psychiatry as no visitors were allowed for almost two years. The power of creativity supported the service users throughout these difficult times.
